"While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him."
Jesus told a story about a bloke who squandered absolutely everything his Dad had left him. The same man then returned home to be given the most lavish and most undeserved welcome you can imagine.
This story is also my story and the story of many of my friends. Rump steak instead of pigswill. Feast instead of fast. God coming to meet us where we are & starting again from scratch - even after we'd ignored all he had intended for us.
If I'm going to sing about anything, I'd like this to be my song. I'm broken, restless and disobedient. Still God loves me and celebrates me and sings over me as one of his adopted children. Look at Jesus and you will see forgiveness, patience and peace. Because of Jesus the invitation to return home to our Father in Heaven has been extended to all. An extravagant welcome that we haven't earned.
Accept His invitation. Know His peace. Worship Him.
Hello to you, and thanks for coming to have a listen to these songs. I hope they help you to grasp something of God's love for you and you can use them to strengthen your relationship with Him.
I'm Thomas (the guy on the left) and I really love being the Worship Pastor at a church called Central in Edinburgh, Scotland (www.jesusattheheart.org) where I’ve been on the worship team for 7 years now. We want to see our city changed by the love of Jesus as we go out from our church transformed by regular encounters with God, living in His presence. Worship leading is a fantastic responsibility and we really love training up people to lead worship in all sorts of contexts, as well as gathering and encouraging worship leaders from all over Edinburgh.
Some of these songs have elements of the journey we've been on together as a church, but primarily we just love spending time in adoration of our powerful and merciful Lord. It’s all about Him.
If you'd like to get in touch about anything at all, please do. I'd love to hear from you. (Especially if you're a worship leader in Edinburgh; some of us meet under the Worship Central banner to encourage and pray for each other now and then)
Huge thanks to the heroes at Push Community for all their help with mixing and recording. They are a talented bunch. The band weren't too shabby either...
